My sweet baby girl,
Yes, we can call you that now! After anxiously waiting, we saw you last week at our doctor's appointment and found out that you are a girl! It made me happier than words can say to watch your daddy's face as he found out he would have a daughter...I think I saw a flash of fear, and then he quickly melted as we watched you play peek-a-boo with us on the screen. You love hiding your face with your hands already. I can hardly wait until the next time we get to see you again.
As I look down at my expanding belly, I can't help but be amazed at how fast you are growing. In fact, it probably won't be much longer until I can't see my feet when I look down. I am celebrating these many changes you are bringing though rather than be afraid of them. After a rough first couple months of this pregnancy with a few scares in there, I found myself a bit fearful that we wouldn't even make it to this point. My joy was feeling a little zapped, but God just kept gently reminding me that you are already His child, even before we get to meet you, and that I need to trust that He has a purpose and a plan for you. I came to this verse that I've been reading daily, and it has reminded me that my part in this miracle of you is really very small, and I can let go of my fear and trust that your heavenly Daddy is knitting you together perfectly according to His plan.
For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb.
I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
your works are wonderful, I know that full well.
My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place,
when I was woven together in the depths of the earth.
Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me
were written in your book before one of them came to be.
Psalm 139: 13-16
So, my sweet girl, I am celebrating each and every day knowing that your are in the best of hands already. I am filled with joy every time I feel you squirm around in my tummy, and I can't wait until your daddy can feel you too. We are planning for your arrival all the time, and we even spent the day shopping for you as soon as we found out you were a girl...and your daddy actually enjoyed it! We have so much fun talking about what you might look like, and what your personality is going to be like. Your daddy is hoping you'll be a Hoosier fan so you can watch the games with him...I think you may have no choice on that one. You already bring us so much joy and you are so loved. I can't wait to see your sweet face!
